Campus Police hosts March 30 presentation on opioid addiction

GRCC Campus Police is co-hosting a free presentation on “Chasing the Dragon: The Life of an Opiate Addict” from 2-4 p.m. March 30 in room 168 of the ATC.

Students, employees and family members are invited to this community event. Doors open at 1:30 p.m.; a discussion will follow. It is sponsored by Campus Police, FBI, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the U.S. Attorney’s Office-Western District of Michigan.

Community play groups start this week

GRCC’s Early Childhood Learning Laboratory is starting community play groups.

The play groups are intended to support those caring for children in the home in providing activities that enhance children’s growth and development and support kindergarten readiness. They are open to all adults caring for young children—infant to kindergarten age. In addition to families, we especially encourage both licensed and unlicensed child care providers who care for family members, friends, or other children to attend. This is a great opportunity for the children to interact with other children, have play experiences that support their development, and for adults to connect with other adults caring for children.

The play groups last 90 minutes and include adult and child play with materials specifically selected to develop a wide range of skills, a story time, and a snack.

The groups run 10-11:30 a.m. at the preschool on:

  • March 16.
  • April 13.
  • May 18.

Parking is available in front of the building on Claremont. Questions? Call 234-2410.
