Emily Niergarth and Allyson West, two Secchia culinary students, had the amazing opportunity to travel to Castellana Grotte, Italy, last week to compete in a culinary competition. Accompanied by faculty member and team coach Sasha Ahmed, the Secchia culinary students competed against 10 other teams, 7 of them from various regions in Italy, as well as teams from Mexico, Scotland, and Portugal. Students had to reinterpret classical Italian recipes, including stuffed rabbit for the savory competition and ricotta-filled crepes for sweet competition. The team placed third overall. This was the first competition for both students.
