April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Activities marking Sexual Assault Awareness Month begin next week:

Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Panel discussion on “Communication in Relationships, Red Flags and What to Do” April 11 from 4-5 p.m. GRCC Applied Technology Center, Auditorium, Room 168: Learn how to improve your communication in order to build healthy relationships, watch out for red flags and understand what to do in difficult situations. Come get your questions answered by our panelist or just listen in. “Audrie & Daisy” April 13 from 6-8 p.m. Wealthy Theater, 1130 Wealthy St. SE, Grand Rapids: The Young Leaders Against Violence will screen the powerful documentary “Audrie & Daisy” to shed light on the topic of teen sexual assault, with specific attention paid to the stories of two young girls. Attendance is free, but limited. Check out Student Life’s Facebook or Orgsync pages for more information. “The Hunting Ground” April 17 from 4-6 p.m. GRCC Applied Technology Center, Auditorium, Room 168: GRCC will screen “The Hunting Ground,” a documentary on the incidence of sexual assault on college campuses in the United States and the failure of college administrators to deal with it adequately. This documentary focuses on the experiences of two former students and their journey for justice at the University of North Carolina. This event is free and guests are permitted. “Human Trafficking: Modern Day Slavery” April 20 at 6 p.m. GRCC Sneden Hall, Room 108: Human trafficking affects millions globally and thousands locally. Carmen Kucinich, FBI victim specialist, will provide a valuable look into the dynamics of human trafficking, including the risk factors and methods used by traffickers to enslave their victims. GRCC.
