Look inside Switch’s upgraded Kent Co. pyramid

GAINES TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Inside the former Steelcase research and development facility –now the Switch Pyramid Campus — there is patented technology protecting the data storage of companies like eBay, DreamWorks Animation, News Corporation and eHarmony.

… “We’ve been working with Grand Rapids Community College to develop the same type of program in partnership without internal training program called Switch University. So that we can take people who have some of the basic skill sets that would work in this environment and train them up to and train them up to where they need to be. The reception has been phenomenal,” (Adam) Kramer said.

Cedar Springs Public Schools, MI — Three years ago, 25 district sophomores decided to get an early start on college. All are well on their way to graduating this fall, having already saved thousands on higher education.

Enrolled in the district’s Middle College program — a collaboration with Grand Rapids Community College — the initial cohort of students is the first from Cedar Springs to finish high school with as many as 39 college credits.

Preschoolers to get hands-on learning with grant-funded museum exhibits

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – More than 1,500 children will gain hands-on learning experiences this summer as a part of the $25,000 grant from PNC Bank.

The PNC Foundation awarded the Grand Rapids Public Museum the grant on Tuesday, May 9 to create two exhibits – “Wales: Giants of the Deep” and “Creatures of Light.” The foundation partnered with students from Head Start for Kent County, YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids and the GRCC Laboratory Preschool, and it will bring a total of 1,500 preschoolers to the museum to see the exhibits.
