East Grand Rapids welcomes 4 new summer bike patrol cadets

East Grand Rapids has four new summer bike patrol cadets to help the Public Safety Department provide a greater presence throughout the city during warmer months.

… (Aaron) Huizenga, 27, of Jenison, is currently attending the Grand Rapids Community College Police Academy and plans to receive his associate’s degree in criminal justice by October. After finishing up at GRCC, Huizenga wants to continue working in law enforcement and follow his dreams of serving and protecting the community.

(Justin) Bradford, 26, was born and raised in Grand Rapids and is an army veteran. He currently is enrolled in the Grand Rapids Community College Police Academy as well. Upon graduation in October, he hopes to get a job in law enforcement.

(Evan) Randall, 29, of Kentwood, completed his studies at Grand Rapids Community College in 2013 and is now attending Ferris State University.

The Center for Teaching Excellence and Distance Learning and Instructional Technologies will be holding its 12th Annual Summer Teaching Institute this August! Over the course of three days — August 15, 16, and 17 — we have twelve different sessions available, including evening sessions. You can register for just one session or multiple sessions. All of the sessions will be held on the Main GRCC campus.

  • Learning Through Serving with Melanie Schiele Gady.
  • Managing Hot Moments in the Classroom with Tamber Bustance and Stacey Heisler.
  • Talking to Students about Academic Pathways with Jennifer Batten.
  • Getting Off to a Good Start with Christina McElwee, Deb Vilmont and Bill Faber.
  • Advanced Placement (AP) & GRCC with Mursalata Muhammad.
