Energy savings across campus

Grand Rapids Community College has saved more than $8 million through its energy conservation efforts over the last nine years. GRCC launched its energy program in May of 2008. Since then, energy consumption has been reduced by 386,296 MMBTUs. That reduction translates into the equivalent of 40,459 tons of carbon dioxide removed from the atmosphere, or 8,429 passenger cars removed from the road, or 1,037,421 trees planted.

The college has reduced energy consumption by 21.2% which translates to $8,060,496 dollars in savings.

GRCC’s online sale has a scheduled pickup for August 25

Grand Rapids Community College is hosting a 24-hour online sale. The items may include retired college technology and resources, laptops, desktops, monitors, electronics, lost-and-found items, and many others!

GRPD: Man jumps fence at public pool, drowns

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A 21-year-old man drowned in a closed Grand Rapids public pool Tuesday morning, police say.

… (Damon) Smith-Phillips’ father, David Smith, said his son was a Detroit native and a graduate of Osborn High School. Smith-Phillips was in Grand Rapids to attend community college and his father said he hoped to have a career in video game design.
