… No. 6: Jamar Wimberly Class of 2010
Wimberly is one of the top running backs ever at Marshall as he helped the Redhawks to a state championship in 2009 with a dominating senior season. Wimberly holds the school record for rushing yards in a season with 2,509 and in a career with 3,899. He is also No. 1 for touchdowns in a season with 32 and in a career with 48. An all-state selection, Wimberly was a standout on both sides of the ball as well as being a shutdown defensive back on defense. Wimberly went on to play defensive back at the next level, helping Grand Rapids Community College to an undefeated regular season with 37 tackles and 12 pass breakups. He later went to star at Ferris State, where he had 56 tackles and two interceptions as a senior.

Brian Morris is a professor and director of guitar studies at Grand Rapids Community College. He’s also a member of the Grand Rapids Guitar Quartet, and that ensemble will be performing this Saturday with the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra.
