Understand and Manage Stress – 9:30-11:30 a.m. Oct. 17
THIS IS A THREE PART COURSE. PARTICIPANTS MUST COMMIT TO ATTENDING ALL THREE PARTS (Part 1- Oct. 17, Part 2 – Oct. 24 and Part 3 – Oct. 31)
Full Title: “Using Awareness and Compassion to Understand and Manage Stress”. We live in a culture where on-going stress is a part of our very existence. While a certain amount of stress is normal (and productive), stress can lead to dissatisfaction, unhappiness, and even health problems. This class is designed to give participants a holistic perspective on the components of stress. An additional component of this program addresses the roles of various social-emotional aspects of stress management. Participants will become familiar with self-compassion, vulnerability, and resilience as methods to help reduce sources of stress in their lives. Participants will learn techniques related to mindfulness to help cope and manage stress.
Strategic Planning at GRCC – 2:00-4:00 pm. Oct. 18
This session will provide a general overview on the process of strategic planning at GRCC and how it connects to other key endeavors such as accreditation, department planning, performance evaluation and budgeting. GRCC uses a 90-person teamed called the Strategic Leadership Team to develop and implement the strategic plan including 3 ends, 6 strategies, 17 College Action Projects, and 8 indicators of success. If you have ever been curious about the SLT, why we have a strategic plan, or how you fit into the strategic planning process, this session is for you.
Supporting Those Who Are Grieving – 12:00-1:00 p.m. Oct. 20
Full Title: COMING ALONG SIDE: SUPPORTING THOSE WHO ARE GRIEVING.There are no magic words that immediately take away the pain so we say nothing or we say too much. This presentation discusses how to support those who have lost a loved one.
