Loaded handgun magazine found in GRCC bathroom was Kentwood officer’s

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Grand Rapids Community College police have identified the origin of a fully-loaded handgun magazine found in a campus bathroom Wednesday, Nov. 1. How it got there remains under investigation.

Chakila Hoskins discovered her artistic gift at the age of seven. Her father drew a sketch of her favorite TV star, Punky Brewster, and then challenged her to do the same. Hoskins’s portrait of the ’80s sitcom character, with her signature pigtails tied up in flower hair bands, turned out to be as incredibly accomplished as her father’s version. She was struck by the positive remarks and affirming words from her parents.

… It would take her several years to regain belief in her artistry. In 2006, working in the retail industry and raising two daughters (she now has three), Hoskins decided to begin taking classes at Grand Rapids Community College.

Autumn Severn, Grand Rapids Community College (New Lothrop) Severn had 12 assists and five digs as GRCC won the Michigan Community College Athletic Association title Saturday over Muskegon CC. In the previous game in the tournament against Oakland CC, she had 18 assists and nine digs.

Defying gravity: Meet 55″ professional dunker Porter Maberry

If Porter Maberry could sit down and have a conversation with gravity, he might say, “I’m sorry, but I respectfully disagree.” That’s because at 55″ and 145 pounds, he can dunk a basketball on a regulation size hoop.

… After a short stint on the Grand Rapids Community College basketball team, Maberry opted to quit basketball and work full-time lifting furniture.
