GRCC retiree biography: Neal McGladdery

Neal McGladdery will be retiring from GRCC at the end of November. Neal has worked in maintenance as a carpenter for the entire 25 years that he has been employed by the college. Recently, Neal has also served as the president of the CEBA union.

When we asked him to share his favorite story about GRCC or our students, he said that they all would involve helping students with other things they needed while on campus, such as helping change their car tires or helping when their cars were stuck in the snow. He said, “It has always been a blessing to help these awesome young adults.” We’re confident that they are thankful for this extra support they were given on campus!

In retirement, Neal plans to winter in Arizona at his second home and spend lots of time at Lake Michigan on his boat in the summer months. He also plans to continue remodeling work that challenges him and gives him personal satisfaction.

Lastly, he stated, “I truly have been blessed in so many ways to have worked with so many great people. I will also remember the fun and hard work that others have brought to this college in my 25 years that went by in the blink of an eye.”

Neal, congratulations on your retirement. The work you have done for the college is so very appreciated. We hope you will stay in touch. Best of luck in all that you do in retirement!

Please join us to celebrate Neal at his retirement reception Thursday, November 9, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. in the ATC banquet rooms 118 and 120.
