Lakewood’s Wickerink signs with GRCC for volleyball

Feb. 15, 2018; Ionia Sentinel-Standard

LAKE ODESSA — Renowned Lakewood High School volleyball coach Kellie Rowland says her star middle blocker Breanna Wickerink is very quiet off the volleyball court. That may be true, but on the court during her high school years Wickerink made a lot of noise.

… That aptitude, attitude, skill and drive had Grand Rapids Community College working to charm her to become a Raider. The goal to draw her to the winning GRCC volleyball program payed off for the coaching staff. On Wednesday, Feb. 7, Wickerink signed her National Letter of Intent to play volleyball for GRCC coach Chip Wills Raiders.

Scholarship ‘owners’ connect with recipients at Creating Connections Breakfast

The GRCC Foundation held its 10th annual Creating Connections Breakfast on Thursday, February 15. This wonderful morning was spent with scholarship “owners” connecting with their scholarship recipients. Guests were treated to a hot breakfast, warm welcome by Dr. Mullins and Dr. Pink, as well as two GRCC student speakers, Amanda Barnett and Raymond King. We spotlighted the Alexa and Alek Zapata Scholarship.

Scholarship support is critical in helping students pursue a college degree. We cannot thank our faithful scholarship donors enough for their continued support of our students.

A special thank you to Facilities, Bayard Brooks, Libor Ondras, Luba Petrash and her team, and Klaas  Kwant for their hard work in making this event spectacular for our donors and students! On behalf of the GRCC Foundation, THANK YOU!
