Men’s basketball starts tournament with home game

GRCC wrapped up their regular season with a 20-9, 12-6 MCCAA-W record, earning the second overall seed in the Region XII, District 9 NJCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. The Raiders will face a familiar foe in 7 seed Mid Michigan Community College. The Raiders faced the Lakers (16-11, 10-8 MCCAA-W) twice this season, with the home team winning both contests. Since the Raiders have the higher seed, they will host the game, tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m. today in the Ford Fieldhouse.

The winner of this matchup will move on to the District 9 semifinals on Thursday, March 8th, in Port Huron. The winner of the District will advance to the NJCAA National Tournament. Last season, GRCC’s Men’s Basketball made a surprising run at the end of the season, finishing 6th overall at Nationals.
