Bill to provide credit for high school interns heads to governor

LANSING — A bill that would allow high school juniors and seniors to earn graduation credits from internships is heading to the governor’s desk.
… More on-the-job training with high school students has been growing in popularity across the state, and in the Holland area. In 2016, Careerline Tech Center, Grand Rapids Community College and Herman Miller joined forces to launch a three-year early college program that allows high school students to begin college coursework and work at Herman Miller.

First tonight, Grand Rapids police are investigating after an apparent random attack at Ros Parks Circle. It happened around 7:30. Police tell us the attack was unprovoked. The victim suffered serious injuries, but they aren’t life-threatening. Grand Rapids Community College put out an alert saying the suspect may be near campus. Here’s a suspect description included in that campus alert. The suspect is a male in his 40s with waves in his hair. He was wearing a black shirt, blue pants and black sunglasses. Police say he may go by the name of Smoke. If you know who this man is or where he might be, call police.

This attack seems to have been random. The victim was able to seek medical care on her own and may have traveled through the main GRCC campus on the way to the hospital.)
