Leaders from Grand Rapids Public Schools and Grand Rapids Community College are working to strengthen their partnership. A news conference is happening today to discuss what’s ahead. The two have worked together for 13 years now, and their bond gives students the chance to work toward their high school diploma and associate degrees at the same time. Tuition and fees for the college courses are covered by state aid given to GRPS.

This week, Grand Rapids Public Schools and Grand Rapids Community College will discuss their partnership. GRCC President Bill Pink and GRPS Superintendent Theresa Weatherall Neal are hosting a press conference tomorrow. They’re expected to talk about strengthening their collaboration in helping prepare students for higher education.

Hospice Of Michigan Welcomes Lauren VanGroningen As Operations Manager

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (June 15, 2018) – Hospice of Michigan (HOM) is pleased to announce Lauren VanGroningen as Operations Manager in the southwest region serving Grand Rapids and surrounding communities.
… Previously, VanGroningen served as Director of Nursing for the memory care program at Samaritas Senior Living. She has also worked as a nurse in psychiatric services at Network180, a progressive care nurse at Spectrum Health’s Meijer Heart Center and as Senior Behavioral Health Operations Coordinator at Priority Health. VanGroningen earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Social Work from Calvin College and an Associate’s degree in Nursing from Grand Rapids Community College. She is currently working on a Master’s of Nursing degree from Ferris State University and lives with her husband, Sam, and two young children in Grand Rapids.

Recap: Michigan map party at the Fratzke Early Childhood Learning Laboratory

On Friday, June 15, GRCC family and friends celebrated the arrival of a ‘Michigan and the Great Lakes’ map in our Preschool Outdoor Learning Environment at the Fratzke Early Childhood Learning Laboratory.  Participants, including Dr. Pink, brought their favorite rock to help leave a permanent mark on GRCC’s new map.

The event also celebrated the retirements of learning lab instructors Cheryl Botham, Paula Kunst, and Penny Folsom, who have a combined 99 years of GRCC teaching experience!  Happy retirement, Cheryl, Paula, and Penny!
