Five women put on red caps and gowns, sharing smiles and stories about the past 18 weeks they experienced together. They are the first students to complete and graduate the Sterile Processing Registered Apprenticeship program: Lelah Christiansen, Samantha Gonzales, Gina Mancha, Shanitra Reed and Melonie Rodriguez.
… Students received instruction from Grand Rapids Community College, as well as hands-on experience at a local hospital: Spectrum Health, Holland Hospital or Mercy Health.

Heritage Theatre Group takes history to the stage in Grand Rapids

Heritage Theatre Group is celebrating its 28th season with a full slate of performances this summer. The group will be performing three different pieces from July 12 until August 18 at the Spectrum Theatre on campus at Grand Rapids Community College.

Union City alum Dan Skirka named head coach of Murray State baseball

MURRAY, KY. — Murray State Director of Athletics, Allen Ward, announced the hiring of Union City alum Dan Skirka as the ninth head coach of the Racer Baseball program.
… Skirka’s first collegiate assistant coaching position was at Grand Rapids Community College in 2007-08 where his team advanced to the NJCAA World Series. He spent the 2008-09 season at Ouachita Baptist working under former Murray State player Chris Moddelmog.
