… Gerald R. Ford Job Corps Center hosted a Y2Y Partners 4 Peace Safety Summit as a part of National Student Safety Month, an annual campaign to encourage safe lifestyle choices for students and young people. The National Safety Council sponsors the initiative. Ford Job Corps was joined by community leaders Anjalon Edwards, Mental Health professional of Grand Rapids Public Schools; Pastor Jerry Bishop of Life Quest Church; Shirley Heintzilman of Trinity Fitness; Kirby Killingham with Family Outreach Seeking Safety; Sgt. Jessie Heard of the Grand Rapids Community Police Department; Daphne Coleman, Entrepreneur; City Commissioner Robert Womack; and national recording artists Mic Hunter D & Seldom Seen of The Fist Coalition. Ford Job Corps students were fully engaged and asked more than twenty questions for responses from this group of powerful and successful leaders from throughout the community.
