GRCC, Tech Center create a recipe for student bakers to earn college degree

West Michigan is home to high-caliber chefs, bakers and other culinary experts and the level of skill is evident in the cuisine and flavors served at ethnic restaurants, fine dining establishments, casual diners, pastry shops and bistros.
… Now there’s an easy way for Joslynn (Skutt) to transition smoothly from high school student to pastry aficionado with the goal of adding her own style and flavor to the scene. Thanks to a new partnership between the Tech Center and Grand Rapids Community College’s Secchia Institute for Culinary Education, she is among 40 students earning 20-25 free GRCC credits, about a third of the 67-credit associates degree.

Two Warrior runners named GLIAC Athlete of the Week

The Wayne State men’s and women’s cross-country teams are looking to post their first victories of the season when they return to the track on Oct. 6.
Both teams finished second at the Grand Rapids Community College Raiders Invitational in Grand Rapids on Sept. 22.

CAB to host GRCC Trunk-O-Treat on October 20

The GRCC Campus Activities Board is hosting a Trunk-O-Treat on Saturday, October 20, from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. on the top level of the Bostwick Parking Ramp! Bring your kids/siblings for candy, face painting, and to meet some special friends! Face painting is FREE to GRCC Students and $3 to Faculty and Staff.

CAB is also accepting volunteers/departments who would like to bring a car and decorate their trunk. CAB will supply the candy for those who provide a trunk.

FREE donuts for all contest participants.

Raider Salute from Instructional Support to Facilities & IT

GRCC students who participated in the Summer 2018 MICUP Program at Michigan Technological University, UROP at the University of Michigan, and Study Abroad in Salamanca (Spain) will be exhibiting their research posters on Wednesday, October 24, in the Raider Grill!

Support their hard work and learn more about the amazing opportunities that the MICUP, UROP, and Study Abroad have to offer!

Mental Health and Wellness Fair today in the Raider Grille

Feeling the stress of the semester as we get closer to midterms? Come explore the Mental Health and Wellness Fair!

The Mental Health and Wellness Fair is a one-stop shop for a wide range of resources available at GRCC and in Grand Rapids as a whole. The event is today, October 9, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the Raider Grille (2nd Floor, Student Center).

We will have representation from community organizations that assist with mental health, substance abuse, food and housing insecurity, sexual/domestic violence, and many more! We will also be visited by the West Michigan Therapy Dogs, a henna artist, and have a number of giveaways including stress balls and more!
