… Graphic books are not necessarily easy reads, said (Kevin) Mulvihill, who also teaches English 101 at Grand Rapids Community College. Many of them, like the required reads, present heavy themes. Many include lots of text. Plus, superheroes and their adversaries are advanced in all ways. These villains have a big vocabulary, Mulvihill said.

TRIO Power of Education fundraiser selling donuts and apples through Friday
TRIO SSS is picking up 30 dozen fresh donuts today, October 31, for our annual Power of Education Fundraiser.
Please help GRCC/TRIO students reach their goal of $600 for tuition to sponsor Samuel Duroseau, 6 years old, through the Power of Education Foundation school in Fontamara, Haiti. 100 % of Proceeds will be used directly for sponsorship.
We are accepting Pre-Orders for Wednesday, 10/31, for deliveries for an order of 1 dozen or more donuts or apples. Call (616) 234-4150 to place your order. Make sure you provide the contact name of the person who is making the purchase and the location of delivery. Cash or check made out to the “Power of Education.” You may also send your order via email to TRIOSSS@grcc.edu.
Dia de Los Muertos celebration Nov. 1 in the Student Center
Please join us in Student Life as we celebrate Dia de los Muertos tomorrow, November 1. We will have coffee and Mexican sweetbread available from 9-11a.m. From 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., our Hispanic Student Organization will be hosting an event in Raider Grille and showing the movie “CoCo.” From 2-4 p.m., we will have tamales available in the student life office.
