GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Votes will be recounted in the Grand Rapids Community College Board of Trustees race following a data entry error, Kent County Clerk Lisa Posthumus Lyons said Tuesday, Nov. 27.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — An election recount petition has been filed in Kent County after officials certified the wrong winner of one race.
A data entry error caused the Kent County to certify to the state that Carlos Sanchez had won a seat on the Grand Rapids Community College Board of Trustees when, in fact, the seat will go to Sheryl Siegel.

A year ago, Elizabeth Jose Pena wasn’t sure what her next career step should be. “I was a lost individual… I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with my life.”
What a difference a fast-paced training program can make. On Dec. 14, Pena will graduate from Grand Rapids Community College’s Medical Assistant Program. “This program caught my attention because I was able to work, support my family and continue my education without having to feel like I was being held back due to not making enough money,” she said.
