Metallica Gifts Grand Rapids Community College $100K To Beef Up Welding Program

GRAND RAPIDS — Grand Rapids Community College will receive $100,000 from heavy metal band Metallica to help launch a new welding program targeted at nontraditional students that will feature smaller class sizes, flexible scheduling and career preparation assistance.

Southeast-area athletes making impact on collegiate level

GRAND RAPIDS – The fall sports season has ended, the winter season is getting into full swing at colleges and universities around the region, and numerous local athletes are making contributions on the collegiate level this season.

… Sammie Ryans, an East Kentwood grad, is turning in a solid sophomore season with the Grand Rapids Community College men’s basketball team. Ryan is averaging 15.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game.

Campus Police to conduct training today in Main Building, stairwell

GRCC Campus Police will be conducting training on the fifth floor of Main Building today, December 18, between 1 and 5 p.m. There will be activity on the entire fifth floor, as well as the main stairwell in Main Building and the stairwell between the Main and Cook buildings between the fourth floor and the fifth floor. The areas used for training will be clearly marked, and we ask you to please avoid the area at this time.

Training exercises such as this are important as we build a culture of safety here at GRCC, and we appreciate your cooperation.

Sign up for Student Life Information Station staffing

Students will be returning for winter classes in just three weeks, January 7-9, and Student Life will once again be welcoming them to the new semester at well-stocked Information Stations positioned across campus. Student Life couldn’t pull this off without staff and faculty help, so we’re hoping you will consider volunteering!

The Information Stations will be at Sneden, Main, Student Center, Calkins Science, and the ATC this coming semester at varying times. Sign-ups are available on the Winter 2019 Info Station Sign Up Google Sheet.
