Fall in love with STEM

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – If you have school-aged students, listen up! According to the Smithsonian Science Education Center, STEM-related jobs grew three times the rate of non-STEM jobs between 2000 and 2010, and it’s now projected that 2.4 million STEM-related jobs go unfilled. In addition to that, STEM occupations out-earn non-STEM fields by up to 30-percent.
That’s where a special program at Grand Rapids Community College comes in. We have Dr. Lauren Woolsey in studio with us.

GVSU hosting STEM event for middle school students on Saturday

“Fall in Love with STEM” takes place on Saturday, February 23, on Grand Valley State University’s Allendale campus.
… Additional events focusing on geology, math, biology, astronomy and chemistry will take place from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. on the first floor of the Calkins Science Center at Grand Rapids Community College.
