  • Mike Olson leaving law enforcement after 49 years

    • Mike Olson is leaving a 49-year law enforcement career he started after a night in a patrol car.
    • … Born in Kalamazoo and raised in several Michigan cities where his father was city manager, Olson had been attending Ferris State University and planning to teach and coach. But he wasn’t convinced that was what he wanted to do and returned to Grand Rapids Community College.

He’s now a journeyman electrician, foreman and detail manager—earning the role as a liaison between the field and office because of his willingness to help with any task.
