GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Grand Rapids Community College is inviting the public to hear presentations from its four finalists for provost and executive vice president for academic and student affairs beginning Monday, July 15.

Violence reduction group says Grand Rapids SE Side area should be city’s focus

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — An evidence-based violence reduction program believes Grand Rapids should target the Baxter neighborhood and surrounding areas, where the city’s “violence problem” is “largely focused.”

… Public meetings were held at Neland Avenue Christian Reformed Church, the Salvation Army Kroc Center, and city hall, with about 110 people attending one of the three meetings. Attendees included representatives from Friend of the Court, Grand Rapids Police Department, Mercy Health, Realism is Loyalty, Grand Rapids Community College, Grand Rapids Public Schools, Kent County Prosecutor’s Office, Baxter Neighborhood Organization, the mediation center, several churches and the city of Grand Rapids.
