Changes to open advising sessions

Academic advising is vitally important to help students get the information and resources they need to be successful. The GRCC Academic Advising and Transfer Center team is committed to providing students the answers they need.

The AATC is making changes to the way it offers open advising sessions to help students get the most out of the opportunity:

  • Open advising in the AATC, located on the third floor of the Student Community Center, will begin on Tuesday, July 30.
  • Students need to be in the AATC an hour BEFORE open advising closes for the day in order to get their name on the wait list to ensure there is adequate time to assist them.
  • Open advising is on a first-come, first-served basis. Advisers will call students in the order they are on the list, so be sure to sign in as soon as you arrive.
  • Because of the nature of open advising, the AATC team can’t determine how many students will need to be served at any specific day or time. There will be occasions in which the staff will need to stop accepting additional names for the day before the scheduled end time. The team will do its best to accommodate and serve all students.
  • Open advising is designed to assist students with academic advising needs for the Fall 2019 semester. If students need help with Winter 2020 or forward, it would be better to schedule an appointment in September or October.

Here’s the schedule for August:

July 29 — No open advising.
