GRCC In the News, 8-30-19

Morning News

Aug. 30, 2019; FOX 17

If you’re going to watch a sports game at Grand Rapids Community College, you’ll have to pay to get in. GRCC is now charging admission to volleyball and basketball games held at Ford Fieldhouse. It’ll cost $3 to get in for anyone 10 years old and up. But students and staff will still get in for free when they show their RaiderCard. You can also purchase season passes. Proceeds will help create additional athletic scholarships.

FastTrack finishes up with successful summer

It has been another successful summer for the FastTrack Program! Over 370 students participated in the FastTrack program this summer at GRCC’s Main Campus and Lakeshore Midtown location.

Offered in June, July, and August, FastTrack is a three-week, free summer prep program for students to brush up on their math, writing, and reading skills and retake the Accuplacer and ALEKS PPL placement tests before starting their writing and math classes this academic year.  Throughout the program, students meet with Student Success Coaches, who help students navigate GRCC and its services as they prepare for the upcoming academic year.

A great thank you to the students who participated in FastTrack and to the staff and faculty who helped these students have an excellent start to their time at GRCC! To learn more about FastTrack, please visit the College Success Center’s website.
