Thanks to YOU, Information Stations a Success!

Information station statistics

In addition to helping students feel comfortable, answering questions, and being a friendly face during the first week, 54 different information station volunteers staffed 135 hours of tabling and:

– Distributed 450 Campus Maps

– Distributed 220 Sneden Shuttle Maps

– Handed out 2,250 Life Savers and 2,500 Jolly Ranchers!

Volunteers also captured the types and frequency of questions asked at each station, which will help with the Campus Wayfinding Core Group understand the needs of students at each of the four Information Station locations.

Thank you all for helping our students feel comfortable on campus last week!

Here’s to a great semester!

Mary Johnson shares photo from Iceland trip

Mary Johnson shares news from her Van and Marinius Swets Travel Award:

I have returned from my trip in time for the start of classes and want to thank you so much for my Van and Marinius Swets Travel Award!

With it, I was able to add an excursion where I was able to ride an Icelandic horse outside of Reykjavik, Iceland.  These horses are direct descendants of the horses the Vikings brought to Iceland 1,000 years ago, and really special.  Here I am, on a very windy day, riding through the lava fields!

Many thanks for a very special addition to an already great trip!
