Noorthoek Academy’s Annual Luncheon

Join us at Noorthoek Academy’s annual luncheon on Oct. 15 at noon at ATC’s banquet room!

We have 93 students on campus every week this fall semester experiencing what it is like on a college campus, learning about Creative Writing, Computer and India, as well as being included in GRCC Exercise Science and Biology classes.

These experiences open the door to learning as well as provides a sense of belonging. They are so proud!

If you would like to learn more please join us. There is no cost to attend, but we hope that you will be compelled to make a gift after you hear our story. RSVP to this email by Sept. 30th. Invite is attached.

Thank you to GRCC for supporting the work we do at Noorthoek Academy!

GEAR UP Parent Night

Parents learned about grant services at the GEAR UP Parent Night at GRCC’s Wisner Bottrall Applied Technology Center on September 10, 2019. After enjoying hors d’oeuvres in the ATC Atrium, cohort parents listened to presentations about Middle/Early College, curriculum pathways, and financial aid. The parent night activity aims to fulfill a grant objective to increase families’ knowledge of postsecondary options and financial aid. Between presentations, families won raffle prizes of GRCC gear to wear in respective home districts of Kelloggsville, Wyoming, Lee, and Godwin.

Registration open now for the Fall OHCC Cohort

The fall Online and Hybrid Certification Course (OHCC) starts October 4th.

The OHCC is designed to provide instructors with the knowledge and skills needed to deliver a high-quality online/hybrid course. Successful participants will also be able to teach effectively online through active facilitation and a variety of student engagement techniques and technologies. Training in Blackboard Basics (on the latest version of the LMS) is a prerequisite. Blackboard Basics may be taken online in a self-paced format or in-person on Friday, October 4, from 10:30 a.m. – noon.

The OHCC is a six (6) week, rigorous course that includes weekly participation and assignment requirements. This training is much more than “Blackboard training,” as it includes elements of instructional design and strategies for building, developing, sequencing, and delivering online content. When you are done, you will have a template for your online and/or hybrid course. You must complete the course, including the assignments for all six weeks, for certification. This includes the completion of your final presentation.

The campus sessions are on Fridays from 1-2:30 p.m. in 351 Main and virtually using Zoom. This is a hybrid course (online course with some classroom instruction).

Only one session is offered during the fall, so sign-up today!
