Training opportunity: Intergroup dialogue

CAP 3.2 and the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion invite participants to the next installment of Intergroup Dialogue (IGD).

IGD training will take place on October 17 and 18 on the GRCC campus.

Intergroup Dialogue (IGD) is “face-to-face facilitated conversation between members of two or more social identity groups. The goal is to foster healthy relationships by increasing understanding through the use of personal storytelling, empathetic listening, and interpersonal inquiry.

We encourage participation in Cohort 2 from stakeholders that value:

  • Awareness of intergroup issues and inequities in our society
  • Exploring diverse social identities and increasing cultural competence
  • Developing the stamina and aptitude to hold constructive dialogues when personal interest conflict.

Growth in these areas increases our capacity to teach, learn, and mentor diverse students, and have a positive impact on the campus culture.

The Intergroup Dialogue project, led by facilitators from the University of Michigan, will challenge you; but also lead to positive growth.

Registration is FREE

IGD is available to all GRCC employees, but there is limited space. Please join us for this two-day journey by submitting an RSVP via Eventbrite.

**Employees can use this opportunity for professional development credits.
