On Thursday, October 3, GRCC will be conducting a test of the Emergency Phone Alert System (EPAS). The EPAS system allows us to use standard phones to broadcast messages in the event of an emergency. All phones are equipped with the feature and volumes are fixed for emergency notifications. We will be testing the system at 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 3. This will be a broadcast test only. No action will be needed.

Schools and local governments are getting a boost from Michigan’s Native American Heritage Fund. The organization is awarding $480,000 to a slew of high schools, colleges and local government units this year. The funding supports efforts to teach about the integral role of local Indian tribes in Michigan state history. Among the award recipients is Grand Rapids Community College for its education and reconciliations project.
