Schools step up efforts to find food for college students who don’t have enough to eat
Hidden in plain sight inside buildings at Kellogg Community College are shelves and baskets containing non-perishable food items to be taken by students who experience food insecurity on a daily basis.
… KCC is one of hundreds of colleges and universities throughout the United States that are taking action to ensure that students experiencing food insecurity have convenient sources of free food available to them. Before launching Bruin Baskets, (Alex) Carlson says visits were made to Grand Rapids Community College, Kalamazoo Valley Community College, and Western Michigan University to see how they were addressing students and hunger.

It’s that time of year again where the cold, rain/snow and less sunlight are upon us. I’ll admit this really isn’t my favorite season (I’m totally a summer girl), but I’m determined to make the most of it. I feel like during the summer Cory and I have such an easy time planning date nights around outdoor spaces or walking to some of our favorite neighborhood restaurants. With the weather changing it’s time to start thinking outside of the box for date ideas in Grand Rapids. So here are some of my top picks for planning your next date.

Did you know you can take a cooking class at GRCC? GRCC Cooks offers workshops with hands-on cooking classes that are great for couples to enjoy on a date night. Whether you’re an experienced cook or just learning these are fun classes to learn new tricks and recipes.
