Bill Pink, president of Grand Rapids Community College in Michigan, has received the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations’ (NCMPR) 2018 Pacesetter of the Year award for District 3. The award recognizes a community college president or CEO who has demonstrated special leadership and support in college communications and marketing. It is awarded annually in each of NCMPR’s seven districts, who are nominees for the national award that will be given this spring.

Report shows regional employer growth, shortage of labor

HOLLAND — Employers in Allegan and Ottawa counties are growing in a healthy regional economy, according to a Lakeshore Advantage report.

… Lakeshore Advantage is working with supply chain methodology to help bridge those gaps for workers, Staley said, by partnering with organizations such as Grand Rapids Community College for training, and Careerline Tech Center.

The week will feature (4) components:

  1. Campus-Wide Information Tables.

I will have information tables set up at several high traffic areas on campus.  These will start to be set up the week of October 14th.  Each table will include: trip-specific fliers, Discovery Week marketing fliers, a large promotional banner, and Study Away Informational Brochures.

  1. Open-House Information Sessions (Open-House Style).

We will offer Information Sessions M-Th in the open study space next to my office from 11:00am-1:00pm.  Each trip will be provided a resource table which will include: promotional stickers and buttons, your trip fliers, small flags, and a trip-specific banner.   Attendees will have an opportunity to interact with faculty leading trips, experiential learning staff, study away alumni, and more.

  1. Faculty Professional Development

Although the sessions are geared towards students I’m hoping faculty will also be curious.  On Friday, during this event, I will be coordinating (2) sessions for faculty.  The first session will be geared towards understanding the proposal and proposal process (11:00am-12:00) and the second session will be an opportunity to explore options with a third party provider (Witte Travel) (12:00-1:00, lunch included).  RSVP to

  1. Study Away Discovery Drop-In’s

Students not available to attend a session will be able to come into the department and receive information during our office hours.  Drop-Ins will continue through the end of the semester and into the winter semester.

Outdoor Escape Room

Time is running out, but there’s still a chance to stop a nefarious underground organization!  Don’t miss your chance to join the team!

How Much? $20 per person  — family, friends, and neighbors (i.e. people who don’t work at GRCC) are most welcome!
