GRCC awarded $2.1M federal grant to retain, graduate more students

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – The U.S. Department of Education awarded a five-year, $2.1 million grant to Grand Rapids Community College to implement a new student support model that is expected to retain and graduate more students.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Rapids Police Officer Michael Harris has had the ride of his life during his almost 24-years on the force.

… (Isaac) Young said he wants to strengthen the relationship between his community of color and the police. He plans to take his first step toward change when he enrolls in Grand Rapids Community College’s police academy.

Annese ranks among nation’s top coaches

BIG RAPIDS — Tony Annese has compiled some impressive career numbers as Ferris State football coach.

… Annese recorded a 195-41 (.826) mark as a head coach in four stops at the high school level before totaling a 30-4 (.882) record in three years as the head coach at Grand Rapids Community College.  His overall career mark at all levels is 306-60 (.836) to date and includes three prep state championships and two national JUCO crowns. He claimed his 300th win last season with the national semifinal victory at Minnesota State.

Norse to host exhibition game against NMU Sunday

ESCANABA — The Bay College Norse women’s basketball team get its first opportunity to get on the court Sunday when it hosts Division 2 Northern Michigan University at 2 p.m. in an exhibition game.

… The Norse visit Northland College for another exhibition game Oct. 26 before beginning their regular season at Grand Rapids Community College Nov. 1.

Laptop vending machine comes to Calkins Science Center

Faculty members! IT has recently moved one of the Laptop Anytime vending machines from the Tassell M-Tec to the Calkins Science building (in the north hallway of the first floor). Students can check out a laptop for free with their RaiderCards from our laptop vending machines and use it for up to four hours. Other Laptops Anytime vending machines are located on the Third Floor of the Student Community Center and on the G2 Level of RJF.
