New police chief appointed in Kentwood

KENTWOOD, Mich. — Richard Roberts has been named the new police chief for the city of Kentwood.
… Before joining Kentwood Police, Roberts received his associate degree in criminal justice from Grand Rapids Community College and graduated from Northwestern University Traffic Institute’s police staff and command.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Nathaniel Moody had no city commission experience when he was appointed in July 2018 to fill David Allen’s seat representing Grand Rapids’ Third Ward.

Bernard didn’t receive attention from Division 1 programs during his time at Ypsilanti but made up for it at Grand Rapids Community College and then Jackson State where he recorded 25 sacks in two seasons. He played for the Cleveland Browns and Arizona Cardinals finishing his career with 72 tackles and 15 sacks in five seasons.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Kater was one of the most prolific quarterbacks to ever come out of the Muskegon area. He was a three-year starter for Montague High School, leading the Wildcats to back-to-back state titles in 2008 and 2009 and a combined 27-1 record those two seasons. He finished his high school career with a school-record 6,361 passing yards in his career and 79 touchdown passes. His senior season, he passed for 2,866 yards and 35 TDs and he ran for 899 yards and 12 TDs en route to earning Associated Press Division 5-6 player of the year honors. Kater, a two-time all-stater, was chosen to play in the 2010 MHSFCA East-West All-Star Game. Also an all-stater in basketball, who finished as Montague’s all-time leading scorer, Kater took his football talents to Grand Rapids Community College under legendary coach Tony Annese, leading the Raiders to an 11-0 record in 2011. He played three years of Division I football at Central Michigan University. He currently coaches football and girls basketball at his Montague alma mater.
