GRAND RAPIDS — In high school, Emma Pachulski, Tori Wolcott and Breanna Wickerink did a lot of damage on the different volleyball courts across Ionia County.

… The former Saranac, Ionia and Lakewood stars, respectively, helped Grand Rapids Community College to fifth place at the national community college tournament last month.

18-year-old will earn computing degree at Saturday’s commencement

Alec Betancourt will participate in the fall commencement ceremony December 7 at Van Andel Arena, earning a bachelor’s degree in computing and information systems.

… By taking Advanced Placement courses, then dual-enrollment courses through Grand Rapids Community College, Betancourt earned a diploma from Forest Hills Central High School when he was 15 years old. By 16, he earned an associate’s degree from GRCC and was a first-year student at Grand Valley, living on his own.

Range of 341 residential units planned for Shops at Westshore

HOLLAND TWP. — A mixed-use residential development plan to build 341 units at The Shops at Westshore was presented Tuesday to the Holland Township Planning Commission.

… The Shops at Westshore have struggled, especially in recent years with the closure of J.C. Penney in July 2017 and Younkers closing in August 2018. But there have been some new developments as well, with the announcement of Grand Rapids Community College purchasing the former J.C. Penney location, and Urban Air Park expected to open a location there next summer.

In addition, I would like to salute Art Johnson for the Diversity Presentation to my class at Union High School ON HIS DAY OFF!  Thank you for pouring into the students when you could have been relaxing.

2019 GRCC Employee Holiday Breakfast. Friday, December 13. Raider Grille & 2nd floor Student Center. 7:30-10:00 a.m. Wear your ugly sweaters for a chance to be the new champion. Brink food and snacks for the student pantry. Donate new winter gear: hats, scarves, gloves, and mittens to keep our students warm this winter.
