… GRCC Lakeshore Campus plans Sept. 14 community COVID vaccination clinic. The new GRCC Lakeshore Campus will host a vaccination clinic on Sept. 14, part of an effort to help students, employees and community members have access to an effective COVID-fighting tool.

“It’s never too late,” says GRCC student who turned her life around. Lakeshore Advantage’s KelseySivertson credits GRCC for helping her get back on track to pursuing her professional dreams, and she believes the college’s new Lakeshore Campus will provide those same opportunities to others.

GRCC displays exhibit of works by alumnus and world-renowned artist Peter Fink. Grand Rapids Community College is offering West Michigan the opportunity to view photos by world-renowned artist Peter Fink. Provided by the Finkelstein family, the collection of photographs by the GRCC alumnus is on display in the college’s Paul Collins Art Gallery.

Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC) and Grand Valley State University (GVSU) have each received five-year, $1.2 million grants from the U.S. Department of Education to help adult learners and low-wage students earn degrees at their institutions.

WCC is kicking off the fall semester with a new dining partner, Creative Dining Services (CDS). 

… Under its new contract, CDS will provide its services through May 2026, with an optional five-year renewal. The company serves six Michigan colleges, including Macomb and Grand Rapids community colleges.

There’s always more to the story

Join director of Student Life and Conduct, Lina Blair, to explore student behavior in the upcoming session “Good People Make Mistakes.” This opportunity will help attendees learn how to react when confronted with difficult or concerning behavior. Managing student complaints will also be addressed. Effective response tactics will be shared as well as various on campus resources associated with student behavior mitigation.

HLC reaffirmation committees

GRCC colleagues: As you learned during our Opening Day programming, we are preparing for our next reaffirmation of accreditation with HLC in 2023-2024. 

Part of this preparation includes forming several cross-college subcommittees to help us carry out this work.  The subcommittees are aligned to the HLC Criteria for Accreditation. You can learn more and let us know of your interest by reviewing this form.  Please complete the form by Friday, September 10, if you are interested in serving on one of the subcommittees.

Mobile Manufacturing Lab hits the road

After hibernating through the pandemic, GRCC’s Mobile Manufacturing Lab is on the road again.

The MML welcomed visitors at the Lakeshore Campus ribbon cutting in Holland last month. This week, it stopped at Wyoming High School where MTEC’s Cody Giba pitched GRCC’s manufacturing and applied technology programs and explained the mini lathe and mill stations, 3-D printer, and virtual welder to GEAR UP Wyoming 10th-graders. In addition, MML career exploration opportunities are scheduled this month for high school students at Godwin Heights, Godfrey Lee, and Kelloggsville.
