Now free, Jamarion Lawhorn faces guilt of taking a life at 12

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Jamarion Lawhorn said he struggles with the guilt of killing another child when he was age 12.

… They said that Lawhorn has had his ups and downs, which is expected. He has worked the last six months at a wood-working shop. He also signed up for classes at Grand Rapids Community College but it was overwhelming so he dropped classes.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Grand Rapids has seen an outpouring of support in favor of renaming 4.5 miles of city streets after two prominent civil rights leaders.

… The commission received 35 letters in support of the change from organizations and individuals including former Grand Rapids Mayor George Heartwell, the University of Michigan Health-West, The Rapid, Davenport University, State Superintendent Michael F. Rice, Grand Rapids Community College, the Hispanic Center of Western Michigan, the Kent County Black Caucus, Grand Rapids Public Schools.
