Wellness Wednesday

Be a champion! GRCC is helping students and employees focus on all areas of health and wellness as we emerge together from the pandemic.

Wellness is a full integration of physical, mental and spiritual health. That includes physical health, but so much more. During the next year we’re also looking at emotional, intellectual, social, spiritual, environmental and occupational health, and how we all can work to help ourselves and each other.

There are many resources at GRCC to help all of these types of wellness. Each week, we’ll introduce you to people and places here on campus ready to support you on your wellness journey.

The intellectual wellness encourages creative, stimulating mental activities. Our minds need to be continually inspired and exercised just as our bodies do.

People who possess a high level of intellectual wellness have an active mind and continue to learn. An intellectually well person uses the resources available to expand one’s knowledge and improve skills. Keeping up-to-date on current events and participating in activities that arouse our minds are also important.

And what can be more informative, stimulating, and challenging than a museum? Grand Rapids has a number of fantastic ones, and GRCC employees can get in many of them for free through the Go See GR program.

Current students and employees can head to the Student Life office in the Student Center, show their RaiderCard and get their Go See GR card.

The card, displayed here by Wellness Champion and Student Life Director Lina Blair, allows for free general admission to the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum, the Grand Rapids Art Museum, the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum, the Grand Rapids Public Museum, and the John Ball Zoo.

There are some other perks, too, and you can learn more at grcc.edu/goseegr.
