HOLLAND — Belinda Coronado began her first term on Holland City Council this week after she was elected Nov. 2 to replace Raul Garcia on council. Garcia did not run for re-election, saying he wanted more time with his family and young kids.

By the numbers: Michigan community colleges hit hard by enrollment declines

Michigan colleges, by and large, are experiencing declining enrollment.

… Grand Rapids Community College saw a 4.4% enrollment increase entering its fall 2020 semester, as well as a 7% increase the following summer. While spokesman David Murray credits that to population growth in Ottawa and Kent counties in the last decade, even colleges in fast-growing districts saw enrollment declines.
