GRCC’s LGBTQ+ Inclusive Fundamentals Team, CAP 3.4, is dedicated to supporting GRCC’s greater commitment to equity and GRCC’s values of diversity, innovation, respect, and responsiveness. The CAP team wants to provide resources that highlight and celebrate LGBTQ+ faculty, staff, students, and the larger GRCC Family.
Each June, LGBTQ+ communities and allies from around the world honor the Stonewall Riots of 1969 and the advancements made, and yet to be made, for LGBTQ+ people everywhere. There are multiple Pride Celebrations in Michigan. See the 2022 Michigan LGBTQ+ Pride Calendar for details of these events.
The CAP team is offering a free copy of the “A Quick & Easy Guide to They/Them Pronouns” book. This is a great and quick read, and the authors explain what pronouns are, why they matter, and how to use them. The publishers note the authors include what to do if you make a mistake, and some tips-and-tricks for those who identify outside of the binary to keep themselves safe in this binary-centric world.
Anyone interested in getting the book can fill out the request form by June 15. Once the books are ordered, the CAP team will send them through interoffice mail. When you’re done reading it, feel free to keep it, pass it on, or pass it back.
We also want to highlight our community advocates and partners: Grand Rapids Pride Center, StandOut, United Campus Christian Fellowship, and Grand Rapids Trans Foundation.
