We will be together again for the Grand Rapids Pride Festival on Saturday, June 18.
Stop by the GRCC table (Booth #104) to say hello and receive cool swag from ODEI.

Jodie has worked for 20 years as the full time Tutorial Coordinator in the Health Sciences Tutorial Center, previously the Health Education Learning Lab; before that – 4 years as a tutor part-time while practicing clinically at Spectrum Butterworth.
Jodie has many great stories about students – every class and every program has its own unique qualities; every program sends out professionals who all are making such wonderful contributions to the community(s) they now serve.
Jodie shares a very special story about her sense of belonging at GRCC…
“Several years ago, a few of us in Health Programs were having a meeting with Armen Oumedian. I shared with him my ‘GRCC’ story – of how I had wanted to be a nurse since I was a small child, but as many of us know, life happens, and distractions get in the way. Then in 1992, GRJC became a ‘community’ college, opening its doors to a broader population, at a time when I was able to find a small window of time to attend (certainly NOT four years’ worth of a full four-year degree) and a small amount of money (again, NOT four years’ worth!) I applied to the Nursing Program, and began working on pre-requisites. It took me years to get through the waiting list, but eventually I did, got a tuition scholarship, and finally completed my life’s goal! Or so I thought…. Upon graduation and beginning to work at Butterworth, I returned as a tutor for several years, and then became the Tutorial Coordinator in the Health Sciences Resource and Tutorial Center. Over the years I was able to finish my degrees in BSN and MSN, and began to support the next generations of nursing students as they achieved their dreams and took their places in the nursing profession. Who could have ever known the amazing ripple effect of returning to nursing education, to not only achieve my own life’s goals, but to walk alongside other’s as they achieved their life’s goals and then returned those gifts to the community. That is the true circle of the Community College. Armen sat there a minute, and then he said ‘You ARE GRCC! You need to share your story!’ So today, as I retire, I am getting the opportunity to finally ‘share’ my GRCC story.”
Jodie’s retirement plans include spending time with family, attending grandchildren’s events, and she is hoping for some travel – but will see what gas prices allow for! 🙂
Best wishes Jodie – Thank you for BEING GRCC!
Information Technology is updating the password expiration notification that GRCC faculty, staff, and students receive when logging into campus computers. This new change will begin displaying on Monday, June 20th for any individual whose password is 14 days away from expiring.
This is a reminder and does not require you to change your password upon receipt. However, we do recommend changing your password before the expiration date to avoid any access issues to GRCC systems.
A screenshot is referenced below that shows an example of the new password expiration notification.
