Making its final campus trip for 2022, the GRCC GEAR UP Wyoming cohort visited Ferris State University last Saturday for Dawg Day.
Students and parents spoke with professors about academic programs and course work, listened to an Admissions department overview of the university, and learned about financial aid, including the recently announced Michigan Achievement Scholarship.
“In my 26 years working in this office, I have never seen so much aid money for families,” said Melanie Mulder, FSU associate director of financial aid.
GEAR UP Wyoming visitors also received some good advice from a Ferris student panel:
“Don’t wait to reach out to your professors for help. They want you to succeed.”
“I sent out many applications to schools across the state. Ferris gave me the best financial aid package.”
“Parking tickets are real. Buy a permit!”
GEAR UP families then toured campus, ate lunch at The Quad, and watched the Ferris State football team hand Davenport its first loss of the season. GEAR UP Wyoming students at Kelloggsville, Wyoming, Godwin Heights, and Godfrey Lee graduate May 2024.
