Holiday schedule and building access reminder

Please be aware of the following changes to building schedules for Thanksgiving week:

There are no classes on Tuesday, Nov. 22. Doors on some buildings will be locked that day, though staff will be able to enter using their RaiderCards. The affected buildings are:

• Fratzke Early Childhood Learning Lab.
• Smith Music Building.
• Spectrum Theater.
• Calkins Science Building.

All other buildings will be open for business services from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Wisner-Bottrall Advanced Technology Center will remain open until 9:30 p.m. due to Ferris State University Classes, but a limited number of entrances will be available.

All campus buildings will be closed for the holiday Wednesday through Saturday.

Back to back: GRCC basketball player Danyel Bibbs earns Player of the Week honors for second week in a row

Back-to-back honors for Danyel Bibbs of the Grand Rapids Community College men’s basketball team after being named Michigan Community College Athletic Association Northern Conference Player of the Week for the second week in a row.

“Danyel continues to impress with not only his counting stats but his leadership on the court,” coach Joe Fox said. “The play we see from him is a direct reflection of his commitment to the process of improving every day.”

Bibbs, a Saginaw native who attended Union High in Grand Rapids, is coming off a team-high 22 points and seven assists while adding seven rebounds in Thursday’s game against Lansing Community College, helping GRCC to a 106-99 victory.

Last week, the sophomore point guard helped guide the team to another victory with a team-high 28 points and 12 assists against Great Lakes Christian’s junior varsity squad.

The men’s basketball team is off to a perfect 4-0 start. The team’s next game is Nov. 16 in Livonia at Schoolcraft College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. 

HR Notification: Check your vacation hours

Make sure you are not at risk of losing any vacation hours as of December 31, 2022 with the Vacation Bank Calculator. 

Reminder, as of December 31 employees are allowed to have their current fiscal vacation accrual plus an automatic 10 day carry over.

Employees can request to have these 10 days transferred to their sick bank by sending an email to the Director of Payroll.

Any vacation hours above the limits allowed by your employee contract/handbook will be forfeited.

New online directory helps connect with people and departments

GRCC has created an online directory to help employees connect with departments across campus. The new webpage replaces the paper version, and can be quickly updated to reflect new people in new places, giving employees the most up-to-date information.
