Student Organization advisors still needed for The Film Club, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, StandOUT!, and Phi Theta Kappa (PTK)

Looking to get more involved on campus? Ever considered advising a student organization?

Think of it as a mentorship role, one where you can be as involved as you choose and act as a resource guide on campus to help the group achieve their goals.

The following clubs are looking for a new advisor to be considered active in the winter semester. Think about it! 🙂 Reach out to Ashley at to talk more, express interest, or fill out the Student Organization Advisor Interest form on Raider Connect.

The Film Club

The Film Club aims to expose students to a diversity of cinema. Students will view, discuss, analyze, and debate films from various genres, cultures, and time periods. The Film Club’s activities include events and meetings.

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship

InterVarsity is a group of students who care about others, fill their lives with Jesus Christ, and invite others to do the same. We study the Bible together, pray for one another, and love to have fun.

IV is part of a larger organization with thousands of chapters on campuses across the world. IV provides students with opportunities to grow as leaders and experience many other cultures. All of our gatherings center back to Jesus Christ and the Bible. Although we are a Christian-based organization, we welcome students and faculty from all walks of life, whether you are religious or not.

The mission of StandOUT is to create a community of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, and straight/cisgender ally students that is inclusive of our many diversities, open to the many opinions of our membership, and safe for all members of the community.

The purpose of StandOUT is:

1. To support LGBTQ+ students at GRCC.

2. To educate ourselves and others in the GRCC and West Michigan communities on issues concerning LGBTQ+ individuals.

3. To advocate for the well-being of LGBTQ+ persons through local political processes.

4. To engage in outreach activities on issues regarding LGBTQ+ individuals.

5. To provide programs and weekly meetings that empower LGBTQ+ individuals and unify them with the GRCC and West Michigan communities.

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK)

Phi Theta Kappa is an International Honors Society that focuses on giving students at two-year colleges’ opportunities to develop leadership skills, volunteer in service learning projects, and create a network of student leaders striving for academic excellence and success.

Through participation in honors and rigorous academic regime, students in Phi Theta Kappa are prepared to be the leaders of the future. GRCC is proud to have its own local chapter, Alpha Upsilon Kappa, a group of dedicated students who strive to grow in developing leadership skills and reaching out to the community.
