Academic Foundations Program (AFP) adjunct faculty gathered for the Winter 2011 AFP Welcome Meeting this week to learn about national and state trends in developmental education and to look at enrollment and outcome data for students at GRCC. The faculty also met with their departments and AFP Coordinators to plan for Winter semester – it’s all a way to strengthen collegiality among faculty and to share best practices in the field.  Check out the collage Cindy Martin, Dean of Adult and Developmental Education, put together:

Revised: Schedule of Academic Success Workshops for Students

[Revised Version of Document Included] Each semester, GRCC’s Counseling and Career Center offers a variety of workshops that teach valuable skills for students; they include topics like support services available to students, constructing an academic success plan, and completing the academic probation contract.

Last week , the Academic Foundations Program held a Learning Day in the multipurpose room of the Student Center.  The event was an opportunity for faculty and staff to come together to learn about developmental education from speakers like Jim Folkening of the Michigan Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth (DELEG).
