Opportunities to Run, Walk, Roll, or Cheer (5/14-15, 5/21)

The GRCC ESP will again be participating in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life at Ah-Nab-Awen Park this weekend, May 14-15, 1pm-1pm. On May 21, Michigan Blood will host Moonlit Miles for Marrow, a 15K trail run at 7:30 p.m. at Klackle Orchards, 11466 West Carson City Road in Greenville. All the proceeds will go to help pay for tissue-type testing of prospective marrow donors for the Marrow Program at Michigan Blood.
Moonlit Miles for Marrow will also feature a 2-mile family fun run/walk and a post race party featuring live bands, food, and refreshments. Runners can register online and collect donations at www.moonlitformarrow.com. For more information, please contact racedirector@moonlitformarrow.com

Run, Walk, Roll, or Cheer is a wellness program at GRCC that encourages the participation of students, alumni, faculty, staff, and retirees in all aspects of community fitness events, including a) running, rolling, or walking in local events, b) joining local groups that support running, rolling, or walking, c) playing a supportive role in events (e.g., working at an aid station), and/or d) turning out to cheer on GRCC colleagues.

Wellness Team Introduces “Run, Walk, Roll, or Cheer”

GRCC’s Wellness Team is introducing a new program called Run, Walk, Roll, or Cheer.  Run, Walk, Roll, or Cheer encourages the participation of GRCC students, alumni, faculty, staff, and retirees in local run/walk events and self-organizing run/walk groups in order to promote health at GRCC and enhance our connections to the community.  Visit www.grcc.edu/runwalkrollcheer for more info.

Announcements:

  • The Inaugural Undy 5000 (5K) and 1 mile fun-run/walk is happening 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 24, 2010 (see www.undy5000gr.org for more information). The event is raising funds to fight colon cancer. They are also looking for volunteers for the event, if you are interested click here for more information.
  • Ric Underhile has created a Facebook group called ‘GRCC Runners’ that is open to anyone interested in connecting with others. The group is a way to have some good, healthy fun together and is open to anyone at GRCC who is interested – just do a search in Facebook to find it.
