GRCC’s Wellness Team is introducing a new program called Run, Walk, Roll, or Cheer. Run, Walk, Roll, or Cheer encourages the participation of GRCC students, alumni, faculty, staff, and retirees in local run/walk events and self-organizing run/walk groups in order to promote health at GRCC and enhance our connections to the community. Visit www.grcc.edu/runwalkrollcheer for more info.
Involvement in all aspects of run/walk events is encouraged, including a) running, rolling, or walking in local events, b) joining local groups that support running, rolling, or walking, c) playing a supportive role in events (e.g., working at an aid station), and/or d) turning out to cheer on GRCC colleagues.
- The Inaugural Undy 5000 (5K) and 1 mile fun-run/walk is happening 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 24, 2010 (see www.undy5000gr.org for more information). The event is raising funds to fight colon cancer. They are also looking for volunteers for the event, if you are interested click here for more information.
- Ric Underhile has created a Facebook group called ‘GRCC Runners’ that is open to anyone interested in connecting with others. The group is a way to have some good, healthy fun together and is open to anyone at GRCC who is interested – just do a search in Facebook to find it.
Please contact Steve Wagner (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you’d like to communicate a run/walk event or would like support organizing or connecting with run/walk groups.
