Openings available to pack suppers at Kids’ Food Basket

There are openings for four people in our GRCC ESP Evening packing group next Tuesday evening, December 16, from 6:00 – 7:45 PM at Kids’ Food Basket on Oak Industrial Drive (7 minutes from campus). This is a unique experience and a great opportunity, as there are wait lists for most evenings. Children 5 and up are welcome with an adult. Participants must pre-register. ESP needs your help in collecting 100 books for “Books for Bedtime” book drive

One of the community outreach projects ESP is doing this year will start on Tuesday, September 9 and run through October 17. In honor of GRCC’s 100th anniversary, GRCC ESP members would like your help in collecting 100 new and gently used children’s books for “Books for Bedtime.” The Literacy Center of West Michigan will distribute the books to families in its Family Literacy Program, Family Futures, D.A. Blodgett-St John’s and GR Initiative for Leaders. If you’d like to give new or gently used books (up to 9th grade level) to “Books for Bedtime,” please drop them off at the following sites: Enrollment Center, Student Success Center (Sneden Hall), Library (1st floor-Circulation Desk), Tassell MTEC, and Student Life.

Please welcome, Claudia “Claud” Galvez, Dental, Rad Tech, and OTA Educational Support Professional. Claud has worked for Michigan Works! for 10 years as a full time staff and 3 years as a temporary. She is currently taking classes to get a general degree and will transfer to Ferris to get a bachelor in Computers. She has one son whose name is Anthony Galvez and is 15 years old. Claud currently plays on 4 different teams for softball during the week. She loves sports, but most of all she loves GRCC. After leaving for a short period of time she cannot see herself working with any other company or institution.

Relay for Life team will accept donations through June 25

Thank you so much to the GRCC ESP Relay for Life Team: Bethany Tuffelmire, Caleb Tuffelmire, Easton Tuffelmire, Albert Bolt, Evan Force, Penni Weninger, Kirsten Sanford, Robert Sanford, Samantha Vandermolen, Marcia Lee, Lisa Snider, Arielle Brown, Emily Smitter, and Scott McGuire. This weekend and the weeks leading up to Relay were worth all the hard work and hours put in!

Thank you also supportive employees of the college who donated items for us to use and sell at the event! Your support has been amazing!

Thanks from GRCC ESP and Nursing for Relay for Life support

GRCC ESP and Nursing would like to thank all faculty and staff who donated money, baked goods and supplies for their booth at the Grand Rapids Relay for Life, to help raise nearly $2,000 for the fight against cancer. Team captain Staci Dever, members Delicia Wilondja and Penni Weninger and family members staffed the ESP booth featuring a Candyland theme. Endurance walkers Bethany Tuffelmire and son Caleb walked nearly 25 miles over 12 hours. Faculty members Vicki Meyers and Nancy Grossman and students staffed the GRCC Nursing Booth which featured a life-size Operation Guy.

Staff Development offers training regarding the new ESP Evaluation Process

If you are an ESP member, or if you supervise an ESP, this preliminary training will provide important information about the new evaluation process. Individuals will be able to successfully complete the new ESP evaluation and understand how their work affects their merit increase.
