Kurt Meinders Transitions to Role as IT Support Manager
Please join GRCC Chief Information Officer Kevin O’Halla in welcoming Kurt Meinders as the new IT Support Manager. Kurt has been with GRCC since 1999 and will bring an outstanding customer service focus to his role. Kurt is replacing Darcy Swope as she has moved on to start a Project Management Office within the IT group.

Holiday Shutdown Suggestions From the IT Dept.
While preparing for the Holiday Shutdown, the IT Department would like to extend a few suggestions to help us all ease into the Winter 2010 semester:
Network access:
- Unsure of a password? Call the Help Desk at 234-3688 to have your passwords reset as there will be no phone or email support during the shutdown period.
- New adjunct instructors will want to contact the Help Desk at 234-3688 to have their Novell network password set up before the Winter semester begins.
- Instructors – Test your ONLINE Center password prior to 12/23 at noon
- If you have been getting Novell expiration notifications in email during the last 30 days, be sure to change your password soon. There will not be anyone to reset it over the holidays.
Email:
- Help us in the transition of email servers by cleaning up any un-needed email and mailboxes in your GroupWise account.
- Change your GroupWise auto-reply (vacation message) to indicate when you will be returning
Phones:
- Change your voice mail message to indicate when you will be returning.

Connect to the IT Help Desk With Social Media
In an effort to increase the level of communication between the IT department and the greater college community, GRCC’s IT Help Desk has begun utilizing social media in order to be more transparent about the technology processes and events that surround the extended GRCC campus.
One step has been to create a blog that captures events as they happen and to notify the community of upcoming changes and maintenance. Anyone may visit the GRCC IT Status Updates blog at http://grccitstatus.wordpress.com/ to keep abreast of currently reported issues, outages and scheduled maintenance or upgrades.
