GRCC Computer Support Technician Job Training Class at Metro Health

Job Training’s Computer Support Technician class visited Metro Health on January 26th. The purpose of the visit was to tour the server room, understand more of the process that is involved in record keeping and ticket troubleshooting, and talk about the logical layout of the network within the hospital.

Students were able to use the Training Room at Metro for their site visit. The presentation also revolved around licensing procedures, thin client setups, asset management and Wiki documentation. Much of the question and answer time focused on how the network was set up for security purposes, both internally and externally, as well as how licensing is enforced when using thin clients vs. thick clients.

Special Thanks to Cora Beute and Metro Health for allowing our class to tour Metro.

Raider Salute to Lori Cook, Nathan Hamilton, Jodie Wagner, Erin Rozek, Tammy Mosley, Josh Aderholdt, & Chiquital Clay

This Raider Salute comes from Scott Mattson in Job Training:

Raider Salute to Lori Cook, Nathan Hamilton, Jodie Wagner, Erin Rozek, Tammy Mosley, Josh Aderholdt, and Chiquital Clay for the development and implementation of our Online Job Training application. Job Training students can access the same application as all GRCC students, but now have the option to choose “Job Training Certificate of Completion” as one their programs. A few of the benefits to our Job Training students being able to apply online are the reduced use of paper, reduced energy costs associated with printing, and reduced time associated with processing applications.

Thanks to all of these individuals for their help in this project.

Attached is a screen shot of the Job Training option on our GRCC online application.
