Reminders From Print Solutions

Mailing Address

Please remember that if you are located at another building in the downtown area, the 143 Bostwick mailing address is the official campus mailing address.  Mail with incorrect mailing addresses will only delay  mail. Check out the delivery schedules at http://cms.grcc.edu/node/11382

Printing Charges

Last fiscal year the College spent $16,189.88 in extra expenses between the desktop printers and the Canon mfps due to large amounts of prints and copies.  The College spends 6.5 cents on every copy and print on the Canon mfps to the vendor –  but staff is only charged 5 cents – and the desktop printers cost the College 11.9 cents a print.   If you were to print 100 copies of 1 sheet, double sided on your office copier/printer it would cost $10.00 But if you were to send it to Print Solutions your 100 copies of 1 sheet double sided would cost $ 8.36 ?

Print Solutions Online Ordering System Video Tutorials now Available

Print Solutions is moving away from the traditional quick copy codes and is ready for faculty to register to use the new online ordering system with videos on how to register and place a quick copy order for classroom instructional materials. If you are a new faculty member you will need to use this system for ordering you classroom quick copy materials. To watch the videos go to grcc.edu/printing and the videos are on the right hand side under Links.

Print Solutions Ordering System Going Online

Print Solutions is moving our ordering system to an online process.

With the ability to create your own Quick Copy, Print Orders and copier/printer supplies right from the comfort of your chair, we are starting with new faculty, due to the elimination of the 4 digit quick copy code. Videos on how to register, place a store order, and how to place an order are being created and will be posted to our web site within the next couple of weeks so please watch for that message and provide this information to new faculty when communicating to them.

Streamline Course Pack Permissions

Many professors use copyrighted materials to support instruction. One way to make them available to your students is through a link on Blackboard. For information or assistance with Blackboard article linking, send a message to libraryinstruction@grcc.edu. Another method to provide copyrighted content is by purchasing permission from the copyright holder. GRCC subscribes to a site license that will help you maintain compliance for copyrighted material you need to teach your classes. Copyright permissions are limited to one semester, so if you are re-using material, you will need to renew permission each semester. Faculty members have personal liability in copyright cases and so will want to remain in compliance.

GRCC subscribes to Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) “a not-for-profit U.S. company based in Danvers, Massachusetts, that provides collective copyright licensing services for corporate and academic users of copyrighted materials. CCC procures agreements with rights holders, primarily text publishers and authors, both for print and online, and acts as agent for them. This ‘collective agent’ status allows CCC to represent thousands of publishers and hundreds of thousands of authors and other creators” (Wikipedia, July 12, 2011). CCC supplies permission but not the copyrighted content itself. If a faculty member does not have permission to copy something, the CCC will contact the publisher for them. The faculty member would need to fill out a request form from the website. Some requests have a fee.

Simple to Use

Navigate to http://www.copyright.com/ACLAcademic

Enter a title or International Standard Number (ISN) in the search box labeled “Get Permission” or use the Advanced Search link.

If CCC has a relationship with the rights holder, navigate to the tab that says, “Annual License Options”. Our license covers many, but not all titles. Some titles are covered by our license. For others, there will be a fee indicated.

Print Solutions New Toner Ordering Policy

Effective immediately GRCC is no longer allowed to order additional toner from Canon without a used cartridge; each Canon printer should have a maximum of one back-up toner cartridge per printer.  All future orders will require us to exchange one used toner cartridge for one new toner cartridge.  Please write Canon Asset ID on the used toner box when you remove it.

Plan ahead for winter semester course packs

Print Solutions is here to help you make your Winter Semester successful.

The staff at Print Solutions is looking forward to helping you get your printed course material for Winter Semester in a very timely manner. If you have already received your course assignments, please have your course pack orders turned in as soon as possible to ensure that they are ready and in the bookstore well in advance of the first day of classes.

Full-time Faculty deadline is November 30
Adjunct Faculty deadline is December 8

The dates provided are guidelines. We will accept orders after the suggested due dates, however, while we will make every attempt, we cannot guarantee they will be complete for the start of the semester.

Copyright Materials:
Please provide document sources and authors of any material that will require copyright clearance. Information, resources and proper forms can be found at http://cms.grcc.edu/library/facultyresources. The Library is available to assist you on how to obtain copyright permission. We can not process your printing without the proper copyright forms/permission.

Now is also a great time to put your quick copy orders in for course related materials for Winter Semester.

We would like to offer you a few useful tips:

1) Please send your quick copy orders to psEprint@grcc.edu – this address should be used for course related materials only.

2) Please use appropriate names in the subject line that pertains to the material being sent – No generic naming such as “Test” or “Syllabus”. Example would be: Jones-Eng 101 syllabus, or Smith-Math 100 test 2

3) To avoid any confusion, please submit only 1 order per email.

4) It is ok to submit quick copy orders for the entire semester, however, due to the high demand for printing that we experience at the beginning of every semester, please extend your due dates to when you truly need the materials.

5) Please double check your order form to make sure that all the information is accurate before you send it.

6) Due to the high volume of orders we will be processing in the month of December, please plan ahead to allow for delayed time in getting your printing. At the start of each semester (and a few weeks preceding) all orders are processed on a first come first serve basis. About a week or two into the new semester, we will go back to our regular quick copy schedule.

For those of you who will have trouble getting us your printing needs early, please consider uploading your information to Blackboard to ensure that you have material for you students to look at while we complete your order.
